Day 2 - GP Series & Melanesian Championships

Thursday, 16 August 2007

After a very successful day one of the Oceania Grand Prix Series and Melanesian Championships day 2 is set to produce some very good results.

Today's finals of the 400 and 800 metres will see some of the best in the Pacific go head to head.

Aunese Curreen and Isireli Naikelekelevesi look set to fight out the men's 800 metres while the PNG trio will be difficult to split in the women's 800 metres. A fast finishing Salome Dell took out the women's heat on Tuesday night, but will come up with strong opposition in Ann Mooney and Cecilia Kumalalamene.

Curreen ran close to his best on Tuesday night in a time of 1:49.75 while Naikelekelevesi was second in a time of 1:51.89. This will no doubt be one of the top races of the Championships.

Beatrice Faumuina will throw in tonight's discus competition as part of her final preparation for Osaka

A full set of results will be available at the end of competition.
