On the eve of the Micronesian Regional Championships teams from around Micronesia are arriving in Guam to take part in the third Championship event.
The first event held in 2003 in Koror, Palau and was followed by the Northern Mariana Islands hosting the second Championship in 2005 in Saipan.
Teams from each of the seven Micronesian Federations will meet at LeoPalace tomorrow afternoon with the first event on the program to be the 6km Cross Country for men and women.
It will be a full afternoon of events with the Opening Ceremony scheduled for 6.00pm.
The premier event of the day will no doubt be the men's and women's 100 metre finals with the Howard brothers representing the Federated States of Micronesia hoping to keep the Northern Mariana's Tyrone Omar off the winner's dias. In the women's event, Nauru's Mystique Jone should be too strong after a week of final preparation in Cairns, Australia.
Teams representing Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Northern Mariana Islands and Palau will join the strong Guam team when they strive for medals and to become the 2007 Micronesian Regional Champion.
A full set of results will be available following the conclusion of the first day's competition.
