The final medal count for the Micronesian Regional Championships saw the host team, Guam take out the title. With a more than 50 athletes competing for Team Guam they were too strong for the other Micronesian Federations.
Guam finished the Championships with a total of 54 medals - 15 gold, 18 silver and 21 bronze. Next was Palau with 11 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze, while Kiribati was third with a total of 13 medals - 7 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze.
The Federated States of Micronesia and Nauru finished on 10 medals. FSM - 3 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze and Nauru - 3 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze while the Northern Mariana Islands finished with 11 medals 3 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze. Marshall Islands did not pick up any medals, but performed well alongside their Micronesian friends.
Next year sees the Oceania Under 18 and Open Area Championships head to the Northern Mariana Islands and although the Micronesian Federations realise that it will be tough to be amongst the top three Federations in them medals there will be still be some stiff competition between these very competitive Federations.
